Who Belongs to The Phi Beta Kappa Society?Only about 10 percent of the nation's institutions of higher learning have Phi Beta Kappa chapters. And only about 10 percent of the arts and sciences graduates of these distinguished institutions are invited to join the Phi Beta Kappa Society for a lifetime membership which makes the invitation process one of the most selective in the nation.

Why Join PBK/AGT?Becoming an association member gives you the opportunity to meet other Phi Beta Kappa members in your area and can also be a great way to network and make professional connections. Associations are financially independent from the Society and set their own, modest annual dues to support their activities.
Many associations award scholarships to outstanding high school and college students, and some present prizes for student achievement and teaching excellence. Many associations collaborate with Phi Beta Kappa chapters to organize lectures and events. |
MembershipGraduating from college doesn't mean leaving behind your Phi Beta Kappa connections. The love of learning - and your Phi Beta Kappa membership - lasts a lifetime and so can your involvement with Phi Beta Kappa if you join one of over 50 alumni associations. Associations have been a part of the Phi Beta Kappa family since 1877 when the first association formed in New York City.
